Sighting

April 29th, 2023 (around 21:00).

Around Kollwitzstraße or Schönhauser Allee.

We passed eachother on the sidewalk, and then you ran back to me and said “Excuse me, do you speak English?” I thought you were just going to ask me for directions at first. But I realized there was so much more.

You told me you liked how I dressed and asked if I was mixed, which is when I realized why you had approached me. We are both Japanese.

It was the first time someone had approached me due to familiarity and not exoticism. It felt special. I declined your offer for a coffee date since I was only on vacation here. I regret it now, and especially regret not exchanging contact info. It’s rare to meet another hafu and I’m sad to think I won’t see you again. I’d love to meet again in Berlin or Tokyo.
