Sighting

I saw you today in the glass waiting area at Sheffield station, sitting across from me while the rain poured down outside. You were reading, so calm, but your presence was somehow louder than the weather.

Then we boarded the same train. You sat just one row ahead. We kept catching each other’s eyes during the ride.

You smiled at me as you got off in Leeds, and then as the train pulled away without you, I sat there with a lil piece of my heart now missing.

I wanted to say something but didn’t. I wish I had.
