Sighting

We were on the Victoria Line, I think you got on around Vauxhall or Pimlico. You were with your friend — both in suits. You had sunglasses on and a silver brooch on your lapel that I couldn’t stop looking at (obviously, or you wouldn’t have noticed).

At Victoria it got packed and when I looked over, you mouthed to ask if I was okay. I said yes (I wasn’t really), and we both got off at Green Park.

I was in a green jacket, black long sleeve, jeans and white trainers — a bit on the shorter side, with headphones holding back my curly hair. I realised I’d gone the wrong way for the Jubilee line, turned around, and walked straight past you and your friend again. That was probably my moment to say something — and I didn’t.

You were tall, sharply dressed, and honestly… a bit distracting — but in a way that actually made me feel a bit calmer. Thank you.

A drink on me, and a proper thank you for being kind in a small moment that stuck with me.
