Leaves in the wind

Leaves rustle in the cool breeze as I contemplate your departure,
Deep with meaning you proposed, but you fled and couldn’t have gone faster
The second time, almost sadder than the first,
So now I have closure?! So now… it really hurts

Caught in between, you’re trapped, in a ring of steel
Hard in your mind, but your senses were real

Did you really go with the flow?, like you told me we should?
the signals, magnetic energy- it was only ever good

So many feelings, held deep within
Bigger than my body could ever be,
now, where to begin?

Overwhelming sense of longing, stark feelings of loss
Waves of emotion and our wavelengths that cross
Sending out a signal, but you’re no longer there to receive?
Appearing strong and stoic like a tree, while I’m blown and jostled like the leaves

I keep wondering what would have happened if I’d have got that chance to see her

Blowing in the wind now, I’ve been hung out to dry-
You leave me hanging, and I’m still no clearer why.

You doubted my existence, yet galvanise your own
Clinging to your tree while the other leaves are thrown
The ring of steel’s your safety net, pulling you back down to earth
rooted in your sanctuary, ignoring the universe
