😄 YOUNG WOMAN ON FREE MALL BUS IN 2019
This incident occurred in 2019 on the free mall bus along 16th Street. At the time, my then-husband and I were experiencing homelessness and boarded the bus around 6 AM after a night of minimal sleep, still needing to head to work. A young white woman, likely in her early twenties and dressed in a white hoodie, boarded the same bus. She proceeded to blast her music at an intolerable volume, which was incredibly frustrating. I remarked, “You’ve gotta be kidding me.” She turned to me and retorted, “You got a problem? Solve it.”
Her response infuriated me, and she escalated the situation by insulting me for being homeless, overweight, and assuming I was single. She even taunted me further, saying, “If you beg me, I’ll turn off my music.”
Fast forward two years, my ex and I managed to secure an apartment, and I’ve been financially stable since then. In 2022, I lost 100 pounds, relocated to another state, obtained two professional licenses, and am currently pursuing a degree. I’m also in a new relationship with a man who spoils me rotten (sometimes lol). And we have three cars, a motorhome, a motorcycle, and go out of town every other month.
To that young woman, if you’re still alive, how’s life treating you? Are you still married? Still juggling two jobs? If you’re so advanced, why did you feel the need for two jobs and a man just to get by 😃? Six months before I left Denver, I had ONE job, lived independently, secured my own apartment, purchased a gym membership, and managed to take care of myself.
My hope is that you’ve found some humility and growth since then. Peace, little sister.
