To the Sweet and Handsome Man with Dark Velvet Hair enchanted with the young redhead during a magical airport encounter, I am reaching back out to the universe for a remarkable man who approached me at the LAX airport 32 years ago. If you have ever wondered about the young redhead you were so magnetically drawn to—the one who said no but meant yes with all her heart—I hope this finds its way to your soul. I had just seen someone off on a flight to NYC and was walking back through the terminal alone. I wasn't carrying any luggage, and neither were you. Out of nowhere, you walked right up to me like a long-lost friend. You were incredibly handsome, with beautiful dark velvet hair and sparkling eyes. You stopped, put your hands shyly into your pockets, looked at me, and told me I was the most beautiful woman you had ever seen. I felt a warm blush rise against my cheeks. Looking into your beautiful face, I replied that you were very handsome. You carried an unforgettable blend of bravery, gentleness, and complete transparency. I recall you may have been wearing a cream or ivory pullover sweater—I am 99 percent sure you were—with blue jeans. We stood together right there in the terminal and talked. For those brief moments, the rest of the busy airport completely faded away, and you made me feel like an absolute priority. You asked for my phone number, and with everything inside me, I wanted to give it to you. Instead, out of a false sense of obligation to a very new relationship—one that would prove to be a harmful mistake to me just weeks after I met you—I froze and said no. Before you turned to leave, you looked at me with those attentive eyes and asked a final question, implying if I was truly sure about my choice or the path I was choosing. I nodded, watched your silhouette fade down the long corridor, and an immediate emptiness set in. I sat in my car afterward knowing I had made a massive mistake. Looking back now, I truly believe you were sent as an angel to divert and protect me from the harm that followed, had I indeed just given you my phone number. I don't know where you are in the world today, but I am still that same slender woman—though my hair is blonde now.
